KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS FAMILY OF THE YEAR AWARD - 2020
This year we are honored to award the Bishop Ruocco Council Knights of Columbus family of the year to the Sidari Family at St Maryís Parish. The Family of the Year from St Johnís Parish is the Drew family.
The Sidari Family; Paul, Margie and Jessica are living examples of Faith in Action. Paul has been deeply involved in parish life and a great example of a Knight of Columbus. He has dedicated himself in working with families planning funerals for loved oneís in the Ministry of Hope. He has organized and carried out many Rosary events including the Million Hail Mary Challenge every year within the collaborative and rosary processions, Paul volunteers himself as a Catechist to the Confirmation I & II classes, sat on the first collaborative Parish Council and was chosen to be a member of the Cardinal's collaborative writing team which assisted in drawing up the blueprint for plans and activities for St Mary/St Johnís Parishes. He has faithfully committed serving Christ with the meaning of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity as he starts his 39th year in the Knights and this past year has held the position of Grand Knight and has led the Fourth Degree Knights as the Faithful Navigator.
Margie has been an accompanist for the Chelmsford Catholic Collaborative Music Ministry. Since 2012-present she acts as Leader of Adult Contemporary Choir at St. Mary Parish, (7, 9) & 11 a.m. Masses on Sundays. She volunteers in the Music Ministry Community Outreach Program - providing music at the Chelmsford Senior Center for the Table of Plenty suppers. †She assists in Rosary events providing music leadership at the services playing both piano and guitar. In 2017 she joined the Prayer Shawl ministry: knitting shawls for families who have lost a loved one. She helps with St Johnís Lasagna Ministry: making lasagnas for the homeless of the Lowell Transitional Center. †She loves working activities with Knights of Columbus: Soup and Stations: cooking, serving, setup/takedown, helping to lead Stations, †Special Olympics (bowling and volleyball tournaments) - scorekeeping/sideline referee Bowling with the developmentally challenged, Billerica - scorekeeping Godís Special People prom, Tewksbury, MA - serving food, and MA Special Olympics Summer Games.
Jessica is a Young person who is an excellent example to all youth. She has been involved in the music Ministry as a youth and adult. She joined in 2016 and has also played her clarinet for special masses. She now loves singing with the 11 a.m. Adult Contemporary Choir on Sundays. She is always working behind the scenes; helping at events Paul & Margie are involved in and always works with a smile on her face.
The Drew Family is another faithful example of living their faith through love and compassion for Christ. Ross & Mary have four daughters Mara, Sara, Lara, and Clara. All the girls have served as altar servers and extraordinary ministers of holy communion. The girls have taught religious ed. Ross and Mary both are EMHC and are part of the baptismal prep teams. Mary brings communion to the homebound. Ross has served on parish council. Both have helped in various other ways whatever is asked of this family they always are willing to help.
